Gwanghwamun Square

Summer Exhibition

The media project 《Seoul Standard Time》: Summer Exhibition (2025.6.21.~9.19.) will be held here in the Hechi Madangchyard.
The project aims to reflect on Seoul today as a global leader in time, and to imagine the city we will build together.

Nature, Fragments of Blue Summer - The Crossing Lab

This work captures fragments of summer that offer a break from the everyday. Scenes of deep jungles, emerald seas, and imaginary birds guide viewers into a dreamlike space. Focusing on feelings rather than stories, the video blends wind, light, and waves to create moments of calm. Moving between reality and fantasy, it paints a quiet yet vivid picture of summer that gently touches the heart.

Seoul, Liberation Hechi

To mark the 80th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation, Seoul’s symbolic creature, Haechi, takes a slow walk past the Independence Gate, Seodaemun Prison, and the Kim Koo Museum. Rather than using flashy effects, this work reflects on the meaning of liberation and traces of history through calm movement. As viewers follow the familiar figure of Haechi, they are gently led to moments of remembrance, respect, and hope.

People, Dancing on the Edge

Endangered animals drawn by citizens are brought to life by AI and appear on a media façade. They move slowly, awkwardly, and sometimes playfully—dancing for survival. This work is a gesture of life, created by people, nature, and technology together, with the hope that small moments of connection will grow into greater empathy.

Art, New Life in Republic of Korea (ver. HECHI FIELD) - KIM Jaeuk

This video artwork reimagines Seoul by blending traditional Korean painting with digital media. Inspired by Sipjangsaengdo (Ten Symbols of Longevity), it features natural elements like the sun, clouds, mountains, water, pine trees, cranes, and deer—symbols of eternal life—combined with major city landmarks around Gwanghwamun. Through a digital collage, the work reveals the layered nature of Seoul, where traces of rapid modernization mix with tradition and technology. These symbols visualize the city’s unseen rhythms, flowing across day and night, inside and outside. The piece invites viewers to explore Seoul across multiple timelines, connecting past and present.

Media Art @ Haechi Lounge is presented every day from 8 AM to 10 PM.

The ‘Media Wall at Gwanghwamun Square’, installed with 53m-wide Full HD panels, is a media art platform where citizens can enjoy media artworks.
The Media Wall exhibits various media artworks created by artists and citizens alike all year round.
